Hi! Thanks for reading my blog. My name is Caitlin Jacobsen. It seems funny to follow my name with a whole bunch of labels or tag lines, especially after publishing a post on labels and how we are so much more. In short, I am 30 years old, a mother of three (now ages 6, 4.5 and 2.5) and I have been running for more than half my life. I fell in love with running during the summer before high school while on the streets with 50 other high school girls trying out for the local cross country team. I was not even going to attend that high school but mine didn’t have a team and so I ran with them every day after school, while representing my own small little high school at competitions.
Running has held many different meanings for me over the years, but now as a full-time mother to three little ones, the meaning has become all-encompassing. Running is my meditation, my biggest passion, my release, my endorphin boost, my survival tactic, my happiness. I don’t just like to run, I like to run fast. I love competing and finally after 8 years away from the races, while injuries healed and babies were birthed, I started competing and even winning some races again! There is nothing like that feeling of suffering and pushing yourself to the absolute limit. I am addicted but in a healthy way — in the past it wasn’t so healthy, so I know the difference. This is where I come to write, to share, to hopefully inspire and motivate other women, mamas, runners and individuals to push themselves to be the very best at whatever it is they love.
